Inmate in and out of prison since 1976 dies
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Authorities say a 63-year-old inmate who was serving time for a sexual assault conviction has died at a Carson City prison.
Nevada Department of Corrections officials say Benny Manning died of a chronic medical condition at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center's Regional Medical Facility.
Authorities say he had been convicted of sexual assault in Washoe County and was first sent to prison in 1976. They say he was paroled multiple times and had it revoked again and again for violations that include grand larceny.
Officials say he was most recently taken back to prison in 2006.
An autopsy is planned.
