Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- "All I wanted was to be a good father and provider. It shouldn't have ended like this," said Aristeo Indico.

The 29-year-old father is talking candidly for the first time about the death of his pregnant wife Ashley and unborn child.

With tears in his eyes, he twirled his wedding ring as he recalled the woman he met ten years ago, "She was every man's dream. She would stand by your side no matter what the outcome was. She had a lot of heart and that's what I fell in love with."

On Oct. 16, police said Aris' sister Elinor allegedly stabbed Ashley, who was nine months pregnant, following an argument in his home.

He had tried to help his sister get her life on track, "When I told her she had to leave and we're not going to support her, she got pissed off at me."

Elinor Indico appeared in court this week. She faces murder and manslaughter charges. Aris hopes she gets the death penalty.

When asked if he has talked to her, he said he will never talk to her after what she did to him and his family, and Ashley's family.

Ashley's mother Cheryl Johnson said the pain and memory will always be there and adds, "I don't think it will ever get better."

Aris and his two children, 5-year-old Alexander and 3-year-old Annabelle, are now living with family near Los Angeles. Both children witnessed the crime.

Aris blames himself, "My kids tell me terrible things and I just tell them it's okay; Mommy's here she's in your heart, she's in your dreams. Stay strong is what Mommy would tell us to do."

His family keeps telling him it's not his fault and that he needs to realize he didn't do this. His sister-in-law Heather will now help him raise his kids.

Aris says ultimately, it will be family to help him through his tremendous pain, "Stay strong for family. Just because it happened to me, don't give up on yours."
