Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Four people are without a home after a fire damaged their northwest Las Vegas home early Sunday morning.
Fire dispatchers received a call around 4:40 a.m. that a home in the Rainbow/Gowan area was on fire.
When firefighters first arrived on scene, flames were shooting out the window of an upstairs bedroom.
Firefighters were first told on arrival that the only two people who were in the house at the time of the fire were outside safe.
Three adults and 1 child are displaced because of the fire, and do not require assistance from the Red Cross.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in just a few minutes, as it was confined to only one bedroom. Damage is said to exceed $25,000.
Two other bedroom and a bathroom were left with fire damage, and the first floor just had the odor of smoke.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, however investigators are looking into the possibility that it may have started from careless smoking.
