Hot air balloon stunt sparks emergency phone calls

By Megan Telles. CREATED Oct 24, 2013

Longmont, CO (KTNV) -- A stunt resulted in a lot of phone calls to 911. People started flipping out when they spotted a man dangling from a hot air balloon.

A man selling exercise equipment is responsible for the scare in Longmont, Colorado.

While the scene may have looked dangerous, the man dangling said it was all part of a plan.

Dan Vinson said it was all a stunt aimed at getting recognition for his workout company, which uses equipment like portable monkey bars.

The video even shows Vinson working out from high above the ground.

The company said their stunt wasn't meant to go public until next year and they didn't realize it would create so much publicity.

While some people think the man was crazy for pulling this stunt, others think he's a marketing genius for the products he's selling.
