Ethel M's Holiday Cactus Display
Ethel M Chocolates in Henderson decorates its botanical cactus garden for the holidays. The garden features millions of lights, appearances by Santa and performances by local groups. The garden will be decorated through Jan. 1. More info
Glittering Lights, the holiday drive-thru spectacular, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway features more than 400 animated, energy-efficient LED lights along a 2.5-mile racetrack.Hours are 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5:30 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Opportunity Village Magical Forest Tree Lighting

A celebratory tree lighting service marking the 22nd anniversary of Opportunity village's Magical Forest. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman will be flipping the switch to light the forest to kick off the holiday season in Las Vegas. Also joining the festivities are Mayor Pro-Tem Stavros Anthony, Congresswoman Dina Titus and Congressman Joe Heck, Linda Smith, Chief Development Officer of Opportunity Village along with Santa, RJ Reindeer and Jaime Lynch from FANTASY at Luxor Hotel and Casino, who has a special performance planned.

Tree Lighting Ceremony at The District

The District is hosting a tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 29 to kick off the holiday season. This family-friendly event will be hosted by actress and best-selling author Cerina Vincent, and will feature a live performance by Frankie Moreno. JC Fernandez from Mix 94.1 radio station will also be live at the event. Santa will also be available for photo opportunities at The District throughout upcoming weeks. Village Square Tree Lighting
Village Square will hold a tree lighting ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 30. The ceremony will include musical performances by the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts High School and Our Lady of Las Vegas Roman Catholic Choir. Also on Saturday, Santa Claus makes a special appearance.
Mystic Falls at Sam's Town
Mystic Falls at Sam's Town casino and hotel is once again decorated for the holidays. The winter wonderland features holiday trees, festive lighting, snowfall, animatronics, laser lights and water features. Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will help Santa light Las Vegas' official Christmas tree. The 50-foot tree will be decked with festive decorations and shine brightly below the 12.5 million lights of the Viva Vision canopy. Directly following the ceremony, the Country Christmas show will perform, a live song and dance show to classic holiday country music hits. The official Las Vegas Christmas tree will be on display at the Fremont Street Experience through the Christmas holiday.
ICE SKATING RINKS:
Holiday Ice Rink & Lodge at Caesars Palace
The all new Caesars Chalet holiday ice rink and lodge experience is now open at Caesars Palace. The chalet features falling snow, warm beverages such as hot chocolate and coffee and adult beverages such as toasted cinnamon shots. Specialized skaters are on hand to offer hands-on assistance, skill demonstrations and facilitate ice rink activities on a 2,100-square-foot LED-lit rink with traditional ice. Daily skating sessions are available for guests ages 4 and older from 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. daily. An ice skating rink has been installed outside of the Gold Spike in downtown Las Vegas. The rink is open from noon to midnight Sundays through Wednesdays and noon to 1 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Cost is $10 to skate all day and $5 skate rental. More info
Winter in Venice at The Venetian and Palazzo Las Vegas
The annual holiday display features an outdoor skating rink and the nightly holiday spectacular. The holiday spectacular is presented three times every night and feature costumed characters and a grand holiday tree lighting. The skating rink is open daily with sessions at 3:15, 4:15, 5:15, 6:15, 7:15, 8:15, 9:15 and 10:15 p.m. Skating tickets are $14.95 for general admission and $9.95 for Las Vegas locals with ID. Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan
The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan is open through Jan. 5. Weekly programming features Date Skate Mondays, Industry Skate on the Strip Wednesdays, and Throwback Thursdays. Hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Mondays through Fridays and noon to midnight Saturdays and Sundays. All day skating access is $10 for Nevada residents and $15 for non-residents. Visitors to The Ice Rink are allowed to bring their own skates or can rent a pair for $5. Skate aid rentals are also available for $10. The Ice Rink welcomes guests ages two and up. Christmas Tree Recycling
Recycle your tree. Each year following Christmas and into the new year you can take your Christmas tree to one of more than 20 convenient drop sites throughout the valley, including the Springs Preserve. Before dropping off your tree, remove all non-organic objects such as lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments and nails. Flocked trees cannot be recycled. For more information go to springspreserve.org. The Nativity is an intimate live recreation of the story of Christmas presented free to the community to enjoy and remember the spirit of the holiday. The outdoor 25-minute ‘visual experience’ follows the Biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ as told by the apostles in the New Testament. The Nativity began as a small production in a church parking lot more than 20 years ago, and has grown to include more than 350 volunteers and 15,000 attendees last year. The cast includes: actors from a baby to 60-year-olds, musicians, set-designers, lighting directors, wardrobe stylists, and donkeys, sheep and goats – all helping to bring the story of Christmas to life. Presented by Red Rock Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The theater group Inarte will present a traditional Spanish-language "pastorela" or Christmas play titled "La Otra Posad." The play features the Christmas traditions of the Mexican people and reflect the variety of culture and folklore in the diverse regions of Mexico.

For every 12,000 points contributed by ace | PLAY members, Arizona Charlie’s will give a box of food to the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA). SNRHA clients have an average annual income of about $10,450.
Points contributed to the Feed a Family program prior to November 17, 2013 will be used for Thanksgiving food baskets. Points contributed between November 18 and December 15, 2013 will be used for Christmas food baskets.
12th Annual "Fill the Fire Truck" Toy Drive
Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation is hosting its 12th annual "Fill the Fire Truck" Toy Drive. Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, Nellis and North Las Vegas Fire Departments will participate in a three-week long effort to collect toys and gift cards for economically challenged children throughout the valley, with all fire stations serving as drop-off locations throughout the month of December. Toys will also be collected the first three weekends beginning the weekend of Dec. 7 and 8, and ending the weekend of Dec. 21 and 22. Collections will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at five participating Walmart locations: Arroyo Cross Parkway, West Tropical Parkway, North Decatur Boulevard, North Nellis and Marks Street.
Grimaldi's Pizzeria Toy Drive
All five locations of Grimadli's Pizzeria is collecting toys for The Shade Tree Nov. 20 through Dec. 20.
Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo Toy Drive
Now in its 15th year, Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo will host a toy drive at 6226 W. Sahara Avenue with Chet living on the 30-foot scaffolding throughout the entire drive. After the drive, HELP of Southern Nevada will distribute the toys to more than 3,000 families in need. Volunteers are needed Wednesday through Sunday evenings during the drive, with each shift running from midnight to 6 a.m. Those interested in volunteering or in need of more information should contact Joan Lima at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The 28th annual “Merry Christmas Las Vegas” fundraising live show will take place in the Railhead at Boulder Station on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. and will be taped for television in front of a live audience. The holiday-themed program will be hosted by the show’s creator Las Vegas entertainer/TV host - Tony Sacca, and will feature a stellar lineup of Las Vegas’ finest entertainers.
Goodie Two Shoes Drive
The Silverton hotel and casino, Planet Mazda and Centennial Maza will be collecting monetary donations for Goodie Two Shoes Foundation throughout the month of December. Guests can donate money at the Silverton's casino cage and receive a shoe print to sign acknowledging their help while being displayed during the month. Donate $5 or more at Planet Mazda (6950 W. Sahara) or Centennial Mazda (6525 Centennial Center Blvd.), beginning Dec. 14 through the end of the month, and receive $5 Free Slot Play to be played at Silverton. Legacy X Toy Drive
Legacy X is seeking nominations for its first toy drive. If you know of a family in need, send an email to email@example.com. Family requests must be submitted by Dec. 20. Anyone interested in donating, can drop off new unwrapped toy now through Dec. 3 at the Legacy X headquarters, 4270 Cameron Street, Suite 6. Legacy X was started by Justin Spencer, the founder and creator of "Recycled Percussion." The purpose of the organization is to help people live their life to the fullest while creating their own legacy. There will also be a Christmas Day open house from 2 to 6 p.m. so that families in need can select free toys for children in their household.
Fire stations accepting donations & Fill the Fire Truck drive
Clark County Fire Stations are accepting toy donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Dec. 23. The donations will go to the Southern Nevada Burn Foundation in support of the annual “Fill the Fire Truck” toy drive. All the toys get distributed to different local charitable organizations. Last year’s drive provided Christmas gifts to more than 18,000 children. Fill the Fire Truck toy drive events will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7-8, 14-15 and 21 and 22 at the following Walmart locations: 7200 Arroyo Cross Parkway, 8060 W. Tropical Parkway, 6464 N. Decatur Blvd., 4350 N. Nellis Blvd., and 540 Marks Street.
December promotion at Hakkasan Las Vegas
Beginning Dec. 1, Hakkasan Las Vegas at MGM Grand has partnered with Three Square Food Bank to bring awareness to las Vegas' hunger need throughout the holiday season. For each guest who dines at the restaurant during the month of December, Hakkasan Las Vegas will donate $5 to directly support Three Square’s hunger relief programs that will benefit nearly 600 Program Partners in Southern Nevada, which includes food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, faith-based organizations, senior centers and more. FatBurger's Fat Bar is giving back this holiday season by hosting the Buy a Burger drive for Shade Tree at three FatBurger locations. Starting Dec. 13, guests can buy an extra burger to donate to Shade Tree. On Dec. 23, FatBurger will set up to grill donated burgers on site at Shade Tree for lunch.
