Hit and run crash leaves Henderson man in critical condition

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are investigating a hit and run crash that left a scooter operator in critical condition.

It happened Saturday morning around 2:40 a.m. on Rainbow Boulevard at the intersection of Alta Drive.

Las Vegas police said a Yamaha scooter was in the left travel lane of Rainbow, stopped at the intersection of Alta.

An unidentified black vehicle was traveling northbound on Rainbow at the intersection of Alta, passing the scooter on the left.

The vehicle side-swiped the scooter, causing the scooter operator to be ejected. The operator, 24-year-old Charles English of Henderson, sustained critical injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stay on the scene and fled. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Rainbow.

Police believe the vehicle was a black or dark-colored 2005 Ford sedan.
