Hearing set for man held in Geisha House shooting
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A judge set a Sept. 2 hearing for a 27-year-old man facing murder and eight other felony charges in a shooting in the parking lot of a steak and sushi restaurant in Las Vegas.
Defense attorney John Momot asked a judge Monday to give him a week to determine if he'll be able to represent Carim Cruz on charges also including attempted murder, assault and battery in the Aug. 16 shooting outside the Geisha House on Flamingo Road.
Cruz was arrested Aug. 21 and is being held at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas.
Police say Cruz argued with the boyfriend of 33-year-old Deanna Serano, who was killed when authorities say Cruz fired several shots from a vehicle into a crowd in the parking lot.
Another woman was wounded.
