Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Good Samaritan helped a Las Vegas police officer during a struggle with a suspect.

On Friday at approximately 6 a.m., police were notified of a man at the Jack in the Box restaurant on Boulder Highway, yelling at employees.

An officer responded and made contact with the employees who said they wanted the man, identified as Curtis Traupman, to leave the business.

The officer advised Traupman to leave and he walked out the door with the officer following him. The officer then advised him that he was not under arrest and could leave.

Instead of leaving, Traupman approached the officer in an aggressive manner. The officer made the decision to place him in handcuffs. Traupman began to fight with the officer, and attempted to pull his gun from the holster.

During the fight, a witness, Michael Elgas, intervened and pulled the suspect off the officer, assisting him in handcuffing Traupman.

The officer was transported to UMC for minor injuries. He suffered minor cuts and bruising on his face and head.

Traupman was placed under arrest and transported to CCDC. He has been charged with resisting a police officer, attempted murder and battery.
