Former group home manager sentenced for neglect
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A former manager of a Las Vegas group home has been sentenced for neglecting one of the residents of that facility.
49-year-old Mary Jennifer Agsalud was sentenced to nine months of jail and 16 hours of community service each month for two years. She also has to pay $6,000 in restitution, penalties and costs. The jail sentence was suspended.
Agsalud was the manager at Las Vegas Home Sweet Home. An investigation by the Nevada Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Unit revealed she was not a qualified caregiver.
The investigation also revealed that Agsalud moved a resident into an unlicensed and unregulated personal residence. In addition, she refused to provide that resident with his wheelchair for a period of approximately two weeks.
