Firefighters extinguish vacant house fire near downtown

By Denise Wong. CREATED Aug 1, 2014

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire near Las Vegas Boulevard and Bonanza.

It started around 3:50 a.m. in a vacant home near downtown. The home was said to have been abandoned and boarded up.

Because it was boarded up, firefighters said they had a tough time getting to the seed of the fire. It took them about 30 to 40 minutes to put the fire out.

The fire did not affect any other homes. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for a medical condition.

There were no other reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
