Fire started during burglary of northwest Las Vegas home

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Arson investigators are investigating a fire that happened shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday at a house on Mare Way, near West Cheyenne Avenue and North Jones Boulevard.
According to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, numerous calls were received at about 10:23 p.m. about a house fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy flames and smoke coming from the one-story house.
Firefighters had the fire under control in 10 minutes.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the house had been broken into and burglarized prior to the fire.
The two residents of the home were not present during the incident.
The fire did extensive damage to the home, mostly to the living room where the fire started.
The two people that lived in the home are now displaced.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
The Las Vegas police are also investigating the incident.
