Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Fire & Rescue was called to the scene of an apartment fire near East Charleston Boulevard and North Lamb Boulevard.
The fire was reported at 6:35 a.m. at an apartment complex at 4850 East Charleston Boulevard.
According to LVFR, the fire was contained to one unit on the second floor and some residents had to be evacuated.
The second floor of the building was empty because it was undergoing renovations.
Residents of the complex said squatters have been staying in some of the empty apartments. The fire may have been started by the squatters.
No injuries have been reported at this time. Three people -- a child, teenager and adult -- are requesting assistance from American Red Cross.
Damage to the building was estimated at $35,000.
