Opportunity Village honors Elvis on anniversary of death

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The King was remembered around the world on Friday.
Friday, Aug. 16 was the 36th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley.
Tens of thousands of people gathered at his home Graceland in Memphis, Tenn. The annual celebration began as an informal vigil the year after his death.
Now, fans from around the world gather for Elvis Week each year to remember The King's passing.
Opportunity Village honored his memory with a special tribute show Friday performed by the OV Elvis.
The program featured singing and dancing and an impersonator contest.
Action News anchor Beth Fisher was one of the judges for the contest.
The winner of the contest and Opportunity Village both received a check from Push Kick Productions.
Opportunity Village helps members of the community with mental and physical disabilities.
Opportunity Village used to have a special tie to Elvis. They would make the silk scarves that he would throw to the crowd during performances.
Elvis Presley performed numerous times in Las Vegas.
