Family, friends speak to Action News about road rage victim
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Family and friends spoke out to Action News about the alleged road rage incident that lead to a fatal shooting Saturday morning.
23-year-old Kristofer Stafford died in the incident after being shot multiple times. Police are still looking for the shooter.
Stafford's father, Matthew, said his son was a passenger in one vehicle. He got upset when another car cut them off.
There was a confrontation and Stafford struck the other vehicle with a baton of some kind.
"Kris had a few beers. He was in the passenger side. His friend was driving, being responsible and [Kris] had an impulse moment and jumped out of the car and whacked the back of the car with some kind of baton," said Matthew.
Police will only confirm there was a road rage incident citing their ongoing investigation.
Witnesses told police the shots then came from a black car with tail light damage.
The news of Stafford's death devastated his employers, the stars of Animal Planet's show Tanked, Wayde King and Brett Raymer.
"He was a bright spot at our company. Anytime we needed some extra help Kris always wanted to be there," said Raymer.
Matthew said his son spent two years in prison, but was finally getting his life straightened out.
Now his friends and family want to focus on the happy moments they shared with Stafford.
They are working on putting together donation information for the family, to help with funeral expenses.
The information will be posted on the ATM Acrylic Tank Manufacturing Facebook page.
