Experts warn today's teenagers obsessed with appearances

CREATED Jul. 29, 2013

(KTNV) -- Experts have a new warning about modern teenagers.

They are being called a generation of clones obsessed with their appearance.

Today's teenage girls are much different than those from the 80's and 90's.

That generation was about expressing themselves.

That is no longer true.

No research shows that girls today are under more pressure to conform than ever before.

Photoshopping is a big part of it.

But the flawless look that many teens are now trying to achieve doesn't exist in nature and the failure to achieve it can have frightening consequences to a teen's self-esteem.

Researchers say that modern teenagers are totally obsessed with emulating celebrities and unattainable standards of beauty that they see in magazines and on the movie screen.

They also say that diversity has been lost.
