Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Now that Christmas is over, it is time to think about getting rid of the Christmas tree.

Nearly 200,000 live Christmas trees are sold each year in Southern Nevada. The Springs Preserve is offering 20 drop-off sites from Dec. 26 to Jan. 15 in an effort to keep them out of local landfills.

A list of the drop-off sites can be found here.

In addition, the city of Henderson is also offering recycling. There are seven locations in Henderson for people to bring their trees. Click here for a list. They will be accepting trees through Jan. 16,

Lights and decorations or anything else that was not part of the original tree should be removed.

In addition, Springs Preserve is accepting used cooking oil and grease. More than 3,500 pounds were collected last year. Click here for more information.
