DriverzEdge president accused in insurance scheme

By Krista Hostetler. CREATED Jan 17, 2014

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 51-year-old Henderson man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with an insurance scheme.

The scheme could potentially cost consumers and an insurance company $859,000 in unissued vehicle extended warranties sold through car dealerships across the country, some located in Nevada.

Robert William Roback, president of DriverzEdge, was apprehended. He's alleged to have failed to remit premium payments collected by DriverzEdge, from consumers who believed they were purchasing extended warranties to the insurer offering the policies.

Roback was apprehended at his place of business located at Stephanie Street and Warm Springs Road, and charged with three counts of felony theft.

Extended warrant applications purchased from DriverzEdge from August to October of 2013, were not forwarded to Assurant Service Protection, leaving consumers without warrant coverage.

Assurant Service Protection has set up a toll-free number to assist consumers in determining whether the policy they purchased has been issued, and for addressing claim needs related to this incident.

Consumers who believe they purchased an extended warrant through DriverzEdge can call (866) 537-5064 to make a claim or check on the status of their policy.
