Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The owner of a local donut shop shot at a would-be robber on Wednesday night.

It happened at the Donut Hut at 3242 East Desert Inn around 11:15 p.m.

According to the arrest report, the suspect entered the business and demanded money from the patrons and clerks.

During the robbery, the clerk of the store pulled a gun and pointed it at the suspect. The suspect then walked to the clerk and attempted to take the gun.

The owner, along with the clerk and suspect, struggled over the gun. During the struggle, the gun fired, striking the suspect who then ran out of the business with no money.

UMC contacted police about a man who had been shot in the abdomen area, and had driven himself to the hospital. He matched the description of the donut shop suspect.

The suspect was later identified as 32-year-old Alfonso Montellano.

He told police he needed money for bills, so he went into the store.
