Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal stabbing involving a pregnant woman.

On Wednesday around 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 2800 block of North Rancho Road to investigate a report of a female that had been stabbed.

Arriving patrol officers located an adult female, later identified as 30-year-old Elinor Indico of Las Vegas, suffering from apparent non-life threatening stab wounds.

Indico was transported to UMC Trauma.

After entering a back bedroom of the apartment, officers located a second adult female, Ashley Indico, who was deceased from apparent stab wounds.

It was later learned this victim was nine months pregnant and the unborn child also died as a result of the attack. She is survived by her husband and two other young children.

The investigation initiated by Las Vegas homicide detectives indicated Indico was related to the deceased female victim, and had been living in the apartment with the family.

The investigation also revealed a verbal argument had taken place between Indico and the deceased female victim just prior to the homicide.

"I heard a lot of doors slamming and [people were] screaming. Doors were being kicked. Names were being called," says neighbor Lynn Tela.

Neighbor Kevin Olhausen tells Action News, he spoke to the victim just before her attack. "I was talking to her and a half hour later, she was gone. It's so sad. It's heart-wrenching," he says.

Neighbor Eddie Velasquez says the deceased mother's five-year-old son was in the apartment during the fight, and ran to his apartment for help. "I just remember her son coming over and he had blood on his hands so we let him in and let him wash up. It's just unbelievable," he adds.

As a result of this investigation, detectives arrested and booked Indico in absentia for one count of open murder and one count of voluntary manslaughter.
