DA releases review of death of man who fell from overpass during chase

By Joyce Lupiani. CREATED Dec 2, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County District Attorney has determined that the Nevada Highway Patrol trooper involved in the September 2012 death of a man who fell from an overpass acted reasonably and lawfully.

NHP Trooper Nicholas Montgomery was chasing Alejandro Sanchez-Escoto. The man ignored commands by the trooper and choose to jump a barrier along the 215 beltway at Decatur Boulevard.

He fell more than 26 feet onto the southbound lanes of Decatur Boulevard.

A fact finding review was held on Nov. 7, 2013. One of the big questions during the review was whether or not Trooper Montgomery had used a taser on Sanchez-Escoto.

It was determined that he fired the taser but it never actually hit the man.

The full review can be read here.
