Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- After releasing surveillance photos to the media of a wanted bank robber, police got a tip that led them to their suspect Kirk Anthony Bowman.
Because of the 38-year-old's appearance in the surveillance photos, detectives initially referred to Bowman as the "mustache bandit."
They believe he's tied to 10 bank robberies in the past three months. He now faces up to 15 years in prison.
Investigators say he's already served time behind bars for the same crime.
"Kirk Bowman was convicted of robbing 11 banks in Las Vegas in 2002," says FBI Special Agent, Henry Schlumpf. "He went to federal prison and served 10 years. He got out last July, and returned to Las Vegas where he almost immediately resumed his gambling and drug addicitons."
According to police, Bowman robbed banks to fuel those addictions.
They also say Bowman led Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers on a short chase when they showed up to arrest him.
