Crews rescue several injured hikers at Red Rock Canyon
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas police Air Support/Search and Rescue Unit conducted two separate rescues on Friday.
At approximately 7:15 a.m., LVMPD SAR personnel responded to the White Rock Trail in the Red Rock National Conservation Area where three males were hiking when they were struck by two separate boulders.
The victims were located in rugged terrain and a hoist operation was conducted to bring the victims and rescuers safely to the rescue helicopter.
Two hikers were transported to a local hospital. The third hiker did not require medical transport.
Then just after noon, LVMPD SAR personnel responded to the area of Calico 1 in the Red Rock National Conservation Area where a 21-year-old male hiker was reported to have fallen in a crevasse, sustaining multiple injuries.
Due to the terrain, rescuers were lowered to the hiker by the rescue helicopter. The hiker was then hoisted to the helicopter in a litter, and was then transported to a local hospital.
