Houston, TX (KTNV) -- Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is in the hospital after a serious crash that also hurt more than a dozen fans.
It happened during the final lap of the Grand Prix of Houston on Sunday.
Witnesses said the crash sent his car airborne, launching it toward the stands.
13 spectators were hurt but only three were sent to the hospital.
Franchitti is being treated for a concussion, broken ankle and spinal fracture.
