Council discusses rescue crew location, marijuana moratorium

CREATED Sep. 18, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas City Council discussed leasing an office to the Red Rock Search and Rescue Team at its meeting on Wednesday.

That was passed in the consent agenda.

The team will move into a former community school space at Alta and Buffalo.

The organization is required to pay the city a monthly rent of $150.

In addition, it's been years since Nevada voters approved a bill supporting medial marijuana, but Las Vegas residents will have to wait longer before it's available.

On Wednesday, the city council voted to place a moratorium on any marijuana dispensaries until the state provides them with more legal guidelines.

Council members said because marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, they want to make sure they're moving forward in accordance with the law.
