Construction worker killed in fall in west Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A construction worker fell to his death Tuesday morning at a construction site in the 1000 block of Summerlin Center in west Las Vegas.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, it happened around 8:45 a.m. at The Shops at Summerlin construction site near Red Rock Casino.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the incident.

It's unclear how far the worker fell or how it happened.

The Howard Hughes Company released a statement following the incident:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of the individual and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues during this very difficult time. The Howard Hughes Corporation is dedicated to the safety of all workers on our construction projects."

The site is currently shut down while OSHA investigates.

The victim's name has not been released.
