Charges downgraded for mother accused in cancer scam

Mesquite, NV (KTNV) -- New information has been released on the Mesquite woman accused of faking her son's illness to get donations.
Charges against Shawnanna Starr Flores have been reduced from felonies to misdemeanors.
Police said she scammed people around the community by claiming her healthy 7-year-old son had cancer, resulting in car washes, donation jars and accounts being set up to help.
Child Protective Services has also opened up its own investigation.
