Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A candlelight vigil was held on Sunday night for Hexiquio Rios, the 25-year-old who was killed during a crash on Saturday.
A few dozen friends gathered near the crash site on Flamingo under U.S. 95.
They brought candles and flowers and shared memories of the young man, who they said worked as a food server and was studying civil engineering at UNLV.
They said he was always smiling and he loved being in the outdoors.
The crash happened early Saturday morning.
According to NHP, Rios' Volkswagen was speeding southbound on U.S. 95 near Flamingo, when it rear ended a Honda civic and then veered into the side of the freeway.
Rios was thrown from the vehicle and died. It's still unknown if he was under the influence.
The driver of the Civic was suspected of driving under the influence. She was treated at the hospital.
Any possible charges she may face are still pending.
