(KTNV) -- There could be turkey trouble this Thanksgiving. One of the biggest turkey producers in the country says it doesn't have enough birds.
Butterball is claiming that there is a shortage of turkeys. Other companies aren't seen any problems yet though.
Butterball isn't sure what happened but they say its birds didn't gain much weight this year.
So, if you are looking for a Butterball turkey that weighs more than 16 pounds, you might be out of luck.
16 pounds is the average weight of turkeys eaten on Thanksgiving.
The company does say that they have plenty of frozen turkeys. It is only their supply of fresh turkeys that is affected.
The company hopes to back to normal by Christmas.
