Boil water notice issued for Lower Rainbow Subdivision

Boil water notice issued for Lower Rainbow Subdivision

By Krista Hostetler. CREATED Jul 28, 2014

Monday's flooding on Mount Charleston caused a severe leak in the Kyle Canyon Water System, and may have compromised water quality within the Lower Rainbow Subdivision of Kyle Canyon.

As a precautionary measure, the Las Vegas Valley Water District is advising residents between Moritz Way and Rainbow Canyon Boulevard in Lower Rainbow to boil water before using it for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, washing dishes and making ice until further notice.

A limited amount of bottled water will be delivered near the intersection of Kyle Canyon Road and Rainbow Canyon Boulevard for Lower Rainbow residents.

Residents in Cathedral Rock, Old Town, Echo and the upper portion of Rainbow are not affected.

A rolling boil of three minutes is sufficient. It is not necessary to boil water for showering or other external uses.

This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until the issue has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows the water is safe to drink.

The water district will inform customers when the boil water order is lifted.
