North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The body found in the desert by the Red Rock Search and Rescue team has been identified.

The Clark County Coroner said 31-year-old Derek Langford of North Las Vegas died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Langford's body was found Friday afternoon inside a truck in the desert area of Corn Creek.

Crews started searching the area earlier in the day for Langford, who reportedly went missing on Tuesday after talking about going off-roading in his truck.

Langford was a Creech Air Force Base tech sergeant.

His family said the airman was a father and had served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
