Biker gang leader convicted of murder in Nevada
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A jury in Reno has convicted a biker gang leader on a series of murder charges in the 2011 killing of a rival Hells Angel at a Nevada casino.
The jury deliberated for five hours Wednesday before returning guilty verdicts on first- and second-degree murder charges for Ernesto Gonzalez, ex-president of the Vagos chapter in Nicaragua.
The jury convicted him on all seven felony counts tied to the death of Hells Angels San Jose boss Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew during the casino shootout on Sept. 23, 2011.
He stood silently as the verdicts were read. The jury returns Thursday to decide whether he should get a maximum of life in prison without parole.
