Best friend of 14-year-old girl killed on Blue Diamond comes forward

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- "We always had fun. She brought out my crazy side. She was the one person I could talk to about anything and be around. She was the one person I could be myself around," says Lexus, Helen Liu's best friend.

Lexus says she and Helen had been friends since 6th grade. They were four houses apart and were inseparable.

Now Lexus says "She was amazing and so nice and kind. She was fun to be around. Whenever I had a bad day, she was always there to make me happy."

Now Lexus knows that can’t happen anymore.  Just a few hours after learning her friend was dead, she wanted to talk about the Helen she knew.

"When i had braces she always sent me pictures of food I couldn’t eat and her eating it."

Helen’s distraught mother told me her daughter had two girlfriends over for pizza and a sleepover Saturday night.  Around 8 p.m., Helen told her mom they were going to visit Lexus and then left.

But instead, the three girls walked a mile from Helen’s home, only to get hit by a truck while crossing Blue Diamond Road, an intersection many here say is a deathtrap.

The two girls are still in the hospital, one remains in critical condition. For Lexus, the pain of losing her friend is almost too much to bear.

Lexus says, "She was my best friend and I'll always miss her and I'll never forget about her."
