Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Bail was set at $1 million Friday morning for the man accused of sexually assaulting a Clark County School District student on Aug. 28.
According to the police report, a 13-year-old girl was locking up her bike at Woodbury Middle School on Harmon Avenue when she was approached by the suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Richard Martin Schlacta.
The girl told police she was at the school so early because she had to catch a bus to a magnet school in another part of the city.
She said she saw Schlacta by the tennis courts as she arrived at school. As she was chaining up her bike, he approached her and asked if he could ask her something.
At that time, he grabbed her and forced her to walk with him to a nearby shed.
Once behind the shed, he forced the girl to perform oral sex on him while holding a knife close to her cheek.
Schlacta allegedly told the girl that he wanted to also have intercourse with her and attempted to remove her clothes.
As he was doing so, she was able to get away and run to Harmon Avenue where she flagged down a passing motorist.
Police were able to locate a male matching the description provided by dispatch nearby. After a short chase, they were able to arrest the suspect.
The young girl was taken to a nearby hospital for examination. Evidence was collected and her injuries, small cuts and scratches, were documented.
Schlacta is facing multiple charges. His next court date is Sept. 26.
