Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Former Nevada lawmaker Steven Brooks was back in a Las Vegas courtroom on Thursday morning to face charges following an incident in February 2013.
Bail was set at $50,000 for the 42-year-old democrat from North Las Vegas. A preliminary hearing was set for 10 a.m. on Aug. 21.
Brooks was returned to Clark County on Tuesday from San Bernardino County in California where he was serving time after pleading no contest in March to evading a police officer and resisting arrest. A California judge ruled that he had served enough time there before he was returned to Las Vegas.
Brooks is accused of attempting to grab a police officer's gun during a domestic dispute call in 2013. The incident resulted in several charges, including domestic battery, assault on a protected person, resisting a public officer with a firearm.
He is also being held on an illegal firearm possession charge resulting from an incident in January 2013. Bail has been set at $100,000 on that charge. Brooks is scheduled to appear in front of judge on that charge on Aug. 19.
