Mohave County, AZ (KTNV) -- A 42-year-old man from Golden Valley has been arrested for beating up his 65-year-old mother.

Robert W. Toney has been charged with aggravated domestic violence and aggravated assault per domestic violence. Both of which are felonies.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said it all started on Saturday night because Toney, who lives with his mom, got upset when someone questioned him about his drinking.

He and his mom went outside and that is when he became combative with her. According to the sheriff's office, he threw her to the ground, slapped her and put her in a choke hold.

Injuries from the fight were apparent to sheriff's deputies but she refused medical attention.

The sheriff's deputies were unable to find Toney that night but they caught up with him the next day. He told them that he was defending himself. A computer history check revealed Toney had 2 prior incidents of domestic violence in California.

He was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
