Mohave County, AZ (KTNV) -- Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an accidental shooting at an outdoor shooting range on Monday.

At about 10 a.m., deputies responded to the 20600 block of North Highway 93.

Investigators determined a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot an instructor in the head. He was airlifted to UMC in Las Vegas but was pronounced dead later that evening.

He has been identified as 39-year-old Charles Vacca of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Authorities said Vacca was standing next to the girl, showing her how to shoot an automatic Uzi when the accident happened. The recoil sent the gun over the child's head when she pulled the trigger and Vacca was shot.

The girl was at the business with her parents.

This investigation is ongoing.
