9 million Americans can't sleep

(KTNV) -- It turns out we have solid evidence a lot of Americans have trouble getting to sleep.
The numbers from the CDC are pretty surprising.
Nine million Americans are on some kind of prescription sleep aid. Untold others are using some over the counter pills.
Doctors say the most at risk group for sleep disorders is white women over 50.
So, why all the trouble getting shut-eye??
Doctor's aren't sure. But, they do have some tips for getting to sleep.
First -- Try to stick to a sleep schedule
Two -- Pay attention to what you eat and drink. Don't go to bed hungry or full.
Third -- Turn off the devices. Cellphones, tablets, laptops and televisions are all too distracting..
Part of this study also looked at the lasting effects of sleeping pills. Many users complain about feeling groggy even hours after waking up.
