Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It is an event that many Las Vegans look forward to every August.
The Black & White Party is taking place this year on Aug. 24 in The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
It is the 27th anniversary for Aid for AIDS of Nevada's main fundraiser. AFAN has been serving the community for 29 years and the party began in 1986.
The annual party is known for its outlandish costumes worn by party-goers, generous samples of food from local restaurants, a variety of beverages, and its live entertainment.
Television anchor Chris Saldana, radio personality Lauren Michaels and Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis from The Chippendales at the Rio and "The Amazing Race" reality tv show will host the festivities.
Performers scheduled for this year include Veronic, who is currently performing at Bally's; the cast of "The D Word" from The D; Britney Spears impersonator Derrick Berry; singer Maren Wade from NBC's "America's Got Talent;" Recycled Percussion; and Mark Shunock, the star of "Rock of Ages" at The Venetian.
If that is not enough, there will be roaming sword swallowers and magicians and dancers from Nevada Ballet Theatre.
Restaurants at this year's party include Brio, Culinary Dropout, Double Helix, Ferraro's, and Pink Taco.
The party will take place 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $35 general admission. The VIP tickets are sold out. Tickets can be purchased at www.afanlv.org.
Don't forget. The party is called the Black & White Party for a reason. Even if you don't come in costume, you are required to wear black and white.
