Austin, TX (KTNV) -- A solider from Ohio who was injured in Afghanistan has earned a Purple Heart for his sacrifice.
A picture snapped during the medal ceremony in his hospital room has everyone talking.
The photograph of injured U.S. Army Ranger Josh Hargis is being dubbed as the "salute seen around the world."
The 24-year-old soldier, who was on his second tour of duty, lost both of his legs.
It happened during an explosion while his unit was searching a building for a target. Four of his fellow soldiers died during the explosion.
Jim Hargis said despite the heartache, he is still proud of his son who always dreamed of being an Army ranger.
Hargis' wife Taylor posted the much-talked photo on Facebook. It has been shared thousands of times so far.
Right now, Hargis is in San Antonio recovering at a military hospital but he did post a thank you to his supporters on Facebook.
Hargis and his wife are expecting their first child.
