Woman badly injured in dog attack in northwest Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman has been hospitalized after she was attacked Friday by dogs in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood.
Police said the attack happened shortly after 10 a.m. just outside of a house on Miramar Driver, near Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard.
The homeowner said the woman was approaching the home with a Bible when the dogs somehow got out of the garage and went after her. The woman was a part of a group of ladies who were handing out religious flyers in the neighborhood.
She was attacked by a pitbull and a pitbull mix.
The woman was transported to a University Medical Center with serious injuries to her head and leg.
The dogs were taken into custody by Animal Control. They will be held for 10 days. The owner received citations for the dogs being loose, for not having rabies shots, and one dog was not fixed.
The homeowner told Action News that he is very sorry for what happened and he feels absolutely horrible.
