Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two men have been arrested for the murder of a man that was found stuffed in a suitcase in a trash bin in east Las Vegas.
43-year-old Emilio Evalio Arenas and 37-year-old Peyton Hemingway have been arrested for the crime. Both men were arrested in California. Arenas was returned to Nevada but Hemingway is currently fighting extradition.
According to the coroner, 50-year-old Carl Pane Simon was beaten and strangled.
During the investigation, detectives were able to trace Simon to the Budget Suites on Boulder Highway. Witnesses told the detectives that Simon was beaten extensively by two men known as "EJ" and "Peyton" because a dispute over money and drugs.
The witness also told police that they left during the beating and upon return were told not to ask about what happened.
Detectives retrieved evidence from the motel room, including a Nevada identification card for Emilio Evalio Arenas.
Arenas has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He has been charged with open murder and conspiracy to commit murder. His initial hearing is set for 7:30 a.m. Sept. 6.
