Henderson man killed after car crashes into block wall
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 23-year-old Henderson man was killed in an early morning crash on Saturday.
The Clark County Coroner said Bryan Jared Peters died.
Henderson police said 24-year-old Arnold Cheung of Henderson was driving a BMW eastbound on Pebble Road, approaching Carnegie Street around 2:20 a.m. at a high rate of speed.
At the intersection, drivers must turn left or right; however, Cheung failed to stop at the stop sign or turn. He continued straight across the intersection and struck a block wall.
Cheung and Peters, a passenger in the car, were trapped in the crushed vehicle. Cheung was extricated from the car and taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment.
Peters died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated that speed and alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash. Blood was drawn from Cheung at the hospital for testing. He faces a DUI with death charge if his blood alcohol content is over the legal limit.
The road was closed for about four hours while crews investigated.
This was the fourth traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.
