LOS ANGELES -- Lee Thompson Young, a former Disney Channel actor and current co-star in TNT's "Rizzoli and Isles" was found dead Monday morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. Police confirmed the 29-year-old's body was discovered in his apartment, ETonline.com reports. His landlord was sent to investigate after Young failed to show up to work Monday morning.
The actor played detective Barry Frost "Rizzoli and Isles," which just signed on for a fifth season Deadline.com reports.
“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning,” Lee’s longtime manager Jonathan Baruch told HollywoodLife.com. “Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.”
Lee started acting as a child and was well known for this breakout role in Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson." He also had roles in "Friday Night Lights," "FlashForward," "Scrubs," "Smallville," "The Guardian," "South Beach" and movies like "Akelah and the Bee" and "The Hills Have Eyes 2."
