Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Four people were attacked on the Las Vegas Strip, including a bride on her honeymoon.
Newlyweds Jackson Caldwell and Laralynn Stock were walking back to their hotel, having just watched the fountain show at the Bellagio.
Caldwell heard what he thought was a man slapping his wife's backside.
“When I saw it was a knife, I thought it was a fake knife, and he was going around doing pranks,” said Caldwell. “(My wife) said lets go, he's just a weirdo. She put her hand back there and when she pulled it out there was blood.”
Officers say 53-year old Lee Sanford ran down Harmon Avenue to the Strip with a 9-inch kitchen knife, stabbing four people.
Officers say Sanford entered a nearby McDonald's holding his knife with a bloody hand, asking employee's to call police.
Police arrived and Sanford was arrested.
According to police documents, when detectives asked Sanford why he was stabbing people, “he stated "because white people like to mess with the poor." Sanford then began to rant incoherently for several minutes.”
One woman who was stabbed in the stomach required surgery for her wounds. All four victims are expected to survive.
Sanford was booked on four counts of battery with a deadly weapon.
The Caldwells, who are on their way back home to Utah, aren't in the clear just yet.
Because Sanford is accused of stabbing multiple people with the same knife, Laralynn will have to have multiple blood tests performed over the coming weeks to make sure she is free of disease.
