Henderson complex has massive cleanup ahead after storm

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Crews in Henderson are still working to remove the debris left by the weekend storms.
The torrential downpours and heavy winds wreaked havoc on one neighborhood in particular, near Pacific Avenue and Van Wagenen Street.
Photographs, taken by resident Kim Hair, show a huge tree that was completely uprooted. It broke a cement-block wall into pieces, ripped-up a patch of sidewalk and twisted a cast iron gate.
There are a handful of other trees down in the same housing complex. The HOA is working to clean up the mess, but said it might take awhile.
"It's like a war zone," Hair said. "The 70-foot tree just toppled over. The roots were sticking out of the ground almost nine feet. It was huge. We're lucky it missed our house."
Others in the neighborhood couldn't believe how fast and strong the storm came through.
"There were all kinds of hail coming down," said Carol Ogilvie. "My kitchen got flooded before I got the door shut. The closer the storm got, the darker it got. And then, all of a sudden, there was a big crack of thunder, and lightning coming down all over the place."
