Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two assaults at a Las Vegas park forced police and the city to close it down.
James Gay III Park, located at Owens Avenue and B Street, has been closed until further notice following the incidents.
Police received a call on Friday around 3 p.m. from a female that said she was assaulted at the park and was hurt.
Later in the evening, police received another call from the park that a person was struck with either a pipe or a pole.
The ages of the victims have not been released. Their injuries were non-life threatening.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the park and are investigating.
Police said due to the incidents' proximity to a children's play area, city officials decided to close the park to ensure the public's safety.
As homeless individuals often frequent the park, the city is reaching out to the local homeless providers about the park closure, so they are aware and prepared to provide additional resources.
