One person dead from West Nile virus
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Southern Nevada Health District is reporting that one person has died because of the West Nile virus.
They are not releasing information about the victim at this time. However, they are reporting that there have been two additional cases involving a 77-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman.
SNHD said both of those victims were hospitalized with the more serious neuroinvasive form of the illness.
To date, there have been four cases of humans contracting West Nile in Clark County. West Nile positive mosqitoes have also been detected in the 89014 zip code, which is in Henderson.
Last year, eight people were infected and one person died. Since 2003, there have been 5 deaths related to the West Nile virus.
