Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Carpenter 1 wildfire continues to challenge firefighters.
On Tuesday, the wildfire jumped Kyle Canyon Road and destroyed its first structure. The fire also went from 15 percent containment to only 10 percent containment.
Fire crews said a commercial building at Prospect Ranch burned down.
But there is good news for residents living near the Rainbow subdivision. Fire officials said they built a strong fire line around homes to protect them.
Flames were visible from the homes on Tuesday.
For residents who want to be escorted into Kyle Canyon by police, Las Vegas said to call the fire hotline number to see if conditions are safe to do so.
That number is (702) 799-4610.
On Wednesday, fire crews will concentrate on protecting the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard resort because the fire is advancing in that area.
