Rent checks stolen from management company lock box

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A property management company owner wants the help of Las Vegas police to track down some thieves who stole rent checks from a drop box safe.
Laura Barberini owns Avalon Realty and Oaktree Management Company. She filed a report with police after she checked the tape from surveillance cameras outside of her business.
She said the tape shows one man holding the drop box lid open, while the other reached in and pulled rent checks out.
"Fishing", Barberini said. "They call it fishing when they put a hanger or a rope down with a sticky substance and pull it up."
Barberini said the thieves have hit the lock box three times in the past couple of weeks. Tenants had to rush to stop payments before the checks were cashed, and pay the fee. She hopes police can catch the thieves before they strike again.
