UPDATED AT 3:20 P.M. -- A mandatory evacuation order has been issued. A shelter is being established at the Hafen Elementary School on Hafen Ranch Road in Henderson. According to the BLM, 21 homes are affected. It is not known though if all those homes are occupied.
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Fire crews are still struggling to get a handle on the Carpenter One fire near Pahrump and now residents are being asked to leave.
A voluntary evacuation order was issued on Thursday morning.
The fire started on Monday after a tree was struck by lightning. It has picked up since then and has now grown to almost 2,000 acres.
So far, there is zero containment, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
